Seattle - Rude?

A recent survey named Seattle as 3rd highest ranking for rudeness.  Any guesses on who took 1st place?  Again?

BLOGPOST_SeattleRude05232022A.jpgCompared to my life experiences of the 6 corners of the U.S. (HI, AK, NY, FL, CA, WA), I think we’ve earned that ranking. Seattleites make different choices:

  • We value being real over flash-in-the-pan or syrupy-snide connection.
  • We live in a multiverse of cultures and make a best attempt to be respectful and inclusive.
  • Our common language is technology and innovation with a secondary language of nature and sports.
  • Climate drives highly diverse activities:

Can we be more friendly? Of course! The quickest, simplest pivot is:

  • Acknowledging others with momentary eye contact and a relaxed smile.
  • Engaging in relaxed, informal conversation when appropriate. Allow your gut to have a voice.
